Ray Moran serves as a Managing Director of the FON Valuation Services group.
Industry Experience
Ray’s industry experience includes metals and mining, where he coordinated American Appraisal’s global industry teams: power generation, pharmaceutical, airline and aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, steel, telecommunications and manufacturing industries. He has sold and managed real estate, machinery, business valuations and fairness opinions worldwide, leveraging networks and relationships on six continents.
Prior Positions
MG Valuation – CEO
Prior to joining FON, Ray was the CEO of MG Valuation, a firm operating in 17 countries worldwide. His responsibilities included all aspects of strategic planning, sales and marketing, engagement coordination and execution, and quality control. MG Valuation is an independent valuation firm serving clients in fifteen countries in the Americas, EMEA and Asia/Pacific. He specializes in client relationships and valuations for financial and tax reporting, insurance, litigation support, bankruptcy and restructuring, and cross-border transactions.
American Appraisal – Various Positions
Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Asia/Pacific - Coordinated Offices in Japan, China, Australia, India, Thailand and Russia serving the Asia/Pacific region. He was National Director of the Industrial Valuation Group in the United States, managing a team of 40 machinery appraisers, then was appointed National Director of the Real Estate Group in the US, with a team of 50 appraisers including a dozen appraisers with the MAI designation. Ray was then transferred to Asia, based in Hong Kong from 2001 to 2003, and coordinating inbound and outbound transactions until returning to New York City.

Professional Designations and Affiliations
Senior Member of American Society of Appraisers (ASA), and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. (MRICS). He serves on the Board of the International Institute of Business Valuers (iiBV) and chairs the marketing committee. He’s a past member of RICS Americas Plant Machinery Committee, and past editor of the ASA Machinery & Technical Specialty Journal.
Publications and Speeches
Ray is a frequent speaker and author on valuation topics, in 2019 he spoke at the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Conference on Global Trends in Valuation, and at the ASA International Valuation Conference. He has spoken in New York City on Valuing Telecom Assets, in Atlanta at the Financial Consulting Group
