Mr. Kurey has approximately 20 years valuation experience having performed valuations of a wide range of private business interests, from small closely held companies to large conglomerates. The valuations have been for a variety of purposes including gift and estate taxation, international taxation (FIRPTA), transaction pricing, purchase price allocation and financial reporting.
Experience
Mr. Kurey performed detailed valuations and related projects for a diverse mixture of assets in a variety of industries including electricity generation (coal, wind, natural gas, hydro, fuel oil and waste-coal) nuclear power, waste management, manufacturing and transportation. Mr. Kurey appraised a variety of intangible assets including trade name, customer relationships, developed technology and in-process research and development.
Mr. Kurey has also performed SFAS 141 (purchase price allocation), SFAS 142 (goodwill impairment test) SFAS 144 (long-lived asset impairment test) and SFAS 157 (fair value) review work for a variety of industries including natural gas and electricity transmission and distribution, nuclear services, financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, media, agribusiness and food distribution, real estate, retail, and marketing. The valuations, projects and review work involved both domestic and international assets.
Prior to joining the Valuation Group, Mr. Kurey supervised the management and valuation of all closely held and oil & gas assets held in fiduciary accounts at a large national bank, and the professionals responsible preparing analyses of the assets. The asset base consisted of approximately 600 oil and gas interests and over 600 closely held assets spanning 30 different industries and exceeding $3 billion.
