Justin Ramirez, ASA, ABV, CFA
Manager, Valuations
Justin Ramirez is a manager in Gordon Brothers’ Business Valuations practice. With over five years of experience in the appraisal industry, Justin has worked on fair market value and fair value business valuations projects across a wide range of industries for a variety of purposes including tax and financial reporting, purchase price allocations, solvency opinions, corporate planning initiatives and shareholder buyouts.
Justin is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) of the American Society of Appraisers, Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and is actively in pursuit of becoming a CFA charterholder. He earned a BS in Economics from Texas A&M University and a MS Finance from University of Houston, where he was also a member of the Cougar Investment Fund.
In addition to his work with Gordon Brothers, he currently supports and advises HNW clients of AppraiseItNow on business valuations and appraisals for tax planning and M&A purposes.
Professional Experience
- Performed fair market value and fair value business appraisals related to holding companies and operating entities for financial reporting compliance, tax compliance, internal/corporate planning, estate and gift planning, M&A, shareholder buyouts and disputes, and other litigation matters
- Fair value work performed includes analysis and reviews related to goodwill impairment, long-lived asset impairment, purchase price allocations, and private equity fund portfolios
- Experience serving a variety of industries including oil and gas, technology, manufacturing, distribution, bio-pharmaceutical startups, and retail sectors
- Served in a corporate finance role at Trimac Transportation, performing financial planning and analysis for corporate and 30+ branch locations
- Served as a midstream analyst at Stratas Advisors, f/k/a Hart Energy Research & Consulting
- Prior to roles in finance, analysis and valuation, Justin had 7 years of experience in engineering drafting and design, including 4 years in drafting engineering drawings and producing operations & maintenance manuals pertaining to LNG barges and other ocean-going fuel transport vessels and power-generation barges
