Garrett Schwartz, ASA, CEA, is a machinery and equipment appraiser with Sencer Appraisal Associates, Inc. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) with a designation in Machinery and Technical Specialties. He is also a Certified Equipment Appraiser (CEA) of the Association of Machinery and Equipment Appraisers (AMEA). Garrett received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration from San Francisco State University.
He is an active member of the ASA, elected as International President and chair of the International Board of Governors for 2023 to 2024, and was previously elected as International Vice President and International Secretary/Treasurer. He served as editor of the fourth edition of ASA’s foundational textbook on equipment appraisal, Valuing Machinery and Equipment: The Fundamentals of Appraising Machinery and Technical Assets, published in 2020; as ASA Region Governor covering the Western United States, Australia, and the Asian Pacific Rim; and as president of both the ASA International Virtual Chapter and the ASA Northern California Chapter. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the appraisal professional, Garrett was honored as Appraiser of the Year in 2023.
Though based in Northern California, Garrett has performed appraisals for equipment across the United States and throughout the world, including Mexico, Asia, the United Kingdom, and Europe. His clients have included the United States Department of Justice, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), local and regional banks, charitable organizations, business brokers, legal and accounting firms, private individuals, and business clients from single-proprietorships to Fortune 5 corporations.
