Present Position:

William E. Howell is the Principal of Howell Valuation, LLC - a provider of professional services in the areas of business valuation, litigation support and management consulting.

Accreditations:

Mr. Howell has the following license and designations.

• Accredited Senior Appraiser by the American Society of Appraisers
• Certified Public Accountant and currently licensed in New Hampshire

• Accredited in Business Valuation by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants
• Certified in Financial Forensics by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants

Experience:

Mr. Howell has performed over 800 business valuations across many industries for gift and estate, shareholder buy-in/buy-out/redemption, compliance with Internal Revenue Code Section 409A, Employee Stock Ownership Plan, business sale, shareholder dispute, merger/ acquisition, corporate reorganization, business/exit strategy planning, marital dissolution, and litigation support. 

His prior experience includes Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer roles with two closely held companies.  He previously worked as an Audit Manager with the Big Four firm now called Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

Education:

Mr. Howell received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Bucknell University in 1978.  He received a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from Boston College in 1981 and was also awarded the Wall Street Journal Award for Academic Excellence in Finance.

Professional:

Mr. Howell’s current professional activities include the following: 

• Recipient of the National ABV Champion of the Year for 2012 award by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants
• Chairperson of the Business Valuation Committee of the New Hampshire Society of CPAs (2011 - 2015)
• Chairperson of the Business Valuation Committee of the Maine Society of CPAs (2013 - 2016)
• Member of the Board of Directors of the New Hampshire Society of CPA’s (2012 – 2018)
• Member of the Business Valuation – Tax subcommittee and the ABV Champion Taskforce of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (2015 – 2018)
• Designated by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants as an ABV Champion for New Hampshire (2011 - 2022), Maine (2012 – 2022), Connecticut (2015 – 2022), Vermont (2015 – 2022) and Massachusetts (2018 – 2022) – for a leadership role in advancing the credential and in encouraging a sense of community amongst ABV credential holders in the respective states.  
• Member of several professional organizations (American Society of Appraisers, Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, New Hampshire Society of CPA’s, ESOP Association, New Hampshire Estate Planning Council, Maine Estate Planning Council, and others).
