As a fixed asset and tax specialist for B Riley Financial in their Chicago office, I specialize in the valuation tangible fixed assets, fixed asset consulting and planning, cost segregation studies, utility tax exemption studies and utility consulting, property tax consulting and fixed asset litigation support.
I joined B Riley Financial from one of the "Big 4" accounting firms, having led their Midwest fixed asset valuation group. With more than 18 years of valuation, engineering, and project management experience. I have provided opinions of value for a wide variety of purposes, including property tax, dispute litigation, residual and insurable replacement cost value, tax planning and reporting, financial reporting (such as business combinations – ASC805 / IFRS 3, fresh-start accounting, goodwill testing and impairment – ASC350, impairment studies for long-lived assets – ASC360 / IAS36), due diligence support, FIRPTA analyses, cost segregation studies, utility studies and liquidation studies (FLV/OLV/LVIP).
I have provided fixed asset litigation support in the form of expert witness testimony and expert report preparation on various matters (US State level and with the ICSID). I have expertise in fixed asset system reorganization, audit and support. I have assisted clients with the custom development of their fixed asset policy and procedures (procurement to disposal).
I have worked with domestic and international clients and across various industries including renewable energy, real estate, hospitality, automotive, aviation, confectionery, chemicals, printing, construction and mining machinery, consumer products, pharmaceuticals, electronic semiconductor, entertainment, oil & gas, high-tech, machine tools, mining, plastics and resins, pulp and paper, telecommunications, transportation, rail, power and utility-related industries.
I've earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from Purdue University and I'm an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers.
